<description>The door continues to revolve, around Monsanto.

The appointment of Michael R. Taylor as Deputy Commissioner for Foods is yet another sign, if one was needed, that Monsanto – Taylor’s former employer, has strong connections with Obama’s government. The appointment must also call into question President Obama’s thinking. I assume that he was aware of the appointment to such an important position concern with food?

Unfortunately, Taylor’s record of links to the FDA under president Clinton’s administration increases the concern at the powerful appeal that Monsanto continues to have in the US administrations. Clearly Monsanto has the key to the Oval Office and that is worrying for those deeply concerned with what goes into their food, and not only in the US. People in other countries are also worried, the example of the Indian Farmers facing huge debts and the ever-increasing suicides amongst them due to the control that Monsanto has on the worlds GM seeds.

International scientists continue to raise their voices against the introduction of GM into our food chain without, so far, having any success. It does not help when ex-top executives of Monsanto have entry into positions of the US Government.

One would have thought that Monsanto’s reputation as one of the manufactures of Agent Orange used to devastate the forests of Vietnam and to kill and cripple millions of the Vietnamese people was known at least to the powers that be that who make government appointments. Monsanto’s record is well known to the many thousands of US Vietnam Veterans and their families suffering still today from the effects of Agent Orange. And Taylor has been given the position of safeguarding the food of the US!!!!!!!!!

Let’s hope that someone somewhere in the White House will reconsider this appointment.
